Lesson 2 Discussion: Your "Real" Self?

Instructions

This course is designed to not only teach you about theoretical concepts and principles, but to also help you use these theories to critically examine your media consumption and determine how your media choices can ultimately infuence who you are and who you will become. As such, simply watching lectures is not enough to fulfill the learning objectives for this course, because, frankly, lectures lack the "deep-thinking" and "critically analyzing" pieces of the knowledge pie.

To address this instructional gap, this course takes a unique appeoach to online learning, allowing you to participate in discussions a litle or fully, while still fulfilling the requirement to critically analyze media theory and course content. This is accomplished through either option 1 or option 2.

Option 1: Reflection Response

Option 2: Synchronous Discussion

You must pick one of these options each week to meet the requirements of this course.

Option 1: Reflection Response

Is your online self the same or different from your "real" self? Respond to this prompt with a minimum of 250 words. Consider such factors as the number of friends you have, the quality and depth of relationships you have with your friends, and how you think your relationships with your friends and family would be different without social media.

As you type your response, make sure you follow the rules of Netiquette and follow the criteria in the rubric located by clicking on the wheel icon in the upper right side of this window and then View Rubric.
