It’s the little things that will make your course stand out. As you apply best practices in online instruction in your course, you will experience the difference—and so will your students. We are here to help, BYU Online's Course Administrators will guide you with best practices in online instruction.

Along with giving you tools to make your content shine, we also give you tools to make your course management experience smooth and streamlined. Canvas is at the center of it all. Flexible enough to let you structure the course you want in your unique way, it also provides the framework and direction you need to succeed. BYU Online is here to support with your Canvas needs!

Let’s face it, in order to make an online course successful, you’ve got to have great technology backing you up. We will help you become familiar with all the latest technologies in online learning.

Pilot Semester

Congrats on getting your course ready to go! Now, let’s make sure this first semester is a success. During the pilot semester, your instructional designer and a BYU Online administrator will provide support and data for your course.

During weekly meetings with your instructional designer, you will discuss student feedback, address Canvas issues, examine quiz and test item question performance and implement course improvements.

Students will complete a variety of surveys throughout the semester. These will inform the adjustments and improvements that are made to your course.

If your course has been taught previously, you can see how your online students’ grades compare to the final grades of previous face-to-face classes.

Using statistics calculated by Canvas, we’ll review quiz and exam questions to help you determine which questions are and aren’t working for your class.
